An ode to the Little Big Celebrations

My lines are about little things, that do not mean a lot,

But mean absolutely everything,

Of first , only , and last time, some moments sought,

You, me and every living being!

The pride I felt when my first tooth was out,

That morning when all pimples vanished!

The moment the bicycle wheels bid goodbye to support,

The glee when my first lines were penned!

The day I saw just me in his eyes,

The day the rains, soaked everything known,

The night I wished, as the star raced the skies,

The moments when I didn’t dream alone.

Celebration doesn’t call for a cause or reason,

It’s in every moment, day and season!

DREAMS UNPLUGGED

Darkness set in as a velvety blanket,

Dewdrops fell in and gave it a twinkle,

Crickets sang to the mates they met,

A gentle breeze rocked sleep’s cradle.

The moon was at its fullest shine,

A milky glow it had cast below,

A stream ran – a howl, a whine

To join the sea – its spirits in tow.

A stone slipped, landed in the stream,

Ripples and ripples, rings ensued,

Setting free scores of bounded dreams,

Some deserted, yet others pursued.

STEP IN TO MY WORLD

He keeps talking –I gradually tune out

Stale words and ideas of his –get shut out

Come to my world –dreams glide freely about

Watch them, make them yours –Without a doubt!

Weave your dreams, let them fly

None can bind ‘em –Try as they might

They say your dreams are children of a wronged night

Tell them they’re wrong and you are just so right!

Step in to my world, where dreams glide about

They’re free and unbound by reasons or doubts

They breathe and live, never sad or distraught

Watch them, feel the happiness you forever sought!

He still talks, but I’ve tuned out

Tending to my world, going slowly about

Dreams of mine and unbound thoughts

I watch them –Live the happiness I sought

Seasons 4

Clouds melted, droplets of first fragrant rain

Summer, the scorching sun that forever drove me insane

White winter, snowflakes quietly falling on my window pane

And finally the fall, bare, the trees remain

The Last Bus

Stood I, by the ever winding narrow road

There goes, the last bus, fully on load

The journey begins, as they throng even the footboards

I spotted his head, among the filing crowd

A heart leapt, then wept, in my eyes it showed

I waved frantically, lest the memories erode!

The horn hooted, got lost in pitter patter

Of a gloomy rain, by seconds it fell harder

Out came a puff from a shifted gear

Smoke mingled with scents of rain

I stood, cried and waved like insane

And watched the last bus disappear again

First Rain...

Hurt lingered for words were just spat,

Thought came only after, long after,

Alas! Done couldn’t be undone.

The distance, was hard just to bear,

The silence spelled right, only despair,

All on a sudden, rolled a thunder,

Lightning Flashes, brought out imminent fear.

A hand of mine searched and found

A waiting hand you had returned

It tugged me close, held me strong

Fear met strength and didn’t stay long!

First droplets of first rain, the breeze gifts us

Out we run into the rain, the rain embraces

We get drenched as we try to catch it in our palms

But the naughty droplets evade us with its charm!

Rain falls harder for it now has attention,

Soaks our senses, tames our emotions

Clogs our senses, and there’s no nonsense

As we rejoice in each other’s presence

Drops that fall, just wouldn’t stop,

We cling to each other, daring it to fall harder

It obliges and soon senses become one

In the pouring rain, two of us are joined as one

Soon, the mistakes are forgotten

Alone in the darkness, we hear a stranger chant

“No pain, no fear, no dirt, no anguish, no guilt, no fault, no blame

Just happiness, Just fullness and Just life...”

The thunder rolls yet again and flashes spread

The rain obliges, as we look ahead

The night is young and day far ahead

Love lingers, wrap me in your arms- beloved

The Pursuit

Rain patters down from a heavy cloud

In the bazaar- Smells of sweat & growing mold

I thread my way through another crowd

In your pursuit, running as fast as legs could

For what feels like an umpteenth time

We’re in this alley, shut from sunshine

You seem to know your way around

I struggle to keep up, listening to my heart pound

The trick – It plays once again

You stop to chat with ones I know by names

I try to catch up- But in vain

And you fade away, leaving me insane

The ones I know offer a smile

Knowing I had lost you after all this while

This foray and all those long miles

Fade away like you, in a futile pile

The alarm resounds, it is another day

Snooze may not let me have my way

Rain patters from the same very cloud

I put the pursuit away, till the sun goes down!
